I’m calling this anju for now. Since anju in Korean language refers to the side dishes we eat while drinking, it seems an apt name for a wine news update. Hopefully these news updates will become a regular thing.
Academie Du Vin
Steven Spurrier has opened a wine academy in Seoul: Academie Du Vin. It’s in Seoul’s very up-market Apgujeong neighborhood in Gangnam-gu. They’re in pre-opening mode so are running house tours Monday to Friday 10-6pm. There are also seminars every two days. Usually in Korea there’s a soft opening for 2-4 weeks then a grand opening party. Call them on 02 518 6643 for more info. [Academie Du Vin Website.] [WineOk]

Our regular column at TINNews.com has come out, with the trusty translation of Dayoung, who always makes me sound better in Korean. I’ll include the original English below the Korean excerpt.

Backstage Photo Essay: Gee Choon Hee!
지툰희 백스테이지 포토에세이인데 더 많은 사진을 보고 싶다면 set별로 우리 Flickr 사이트에 나누어 있어요. 지춘희의 백스테지 포토에세이를 다 보고 싶다면 여기로 가보세요.
These are Gee Choon Hee’s backstage pics, which are pretty cool. You can see more of our Seoul Fashion Week coverage and see all of our photosets, or just watch the slideshow for this set’s page.

That’s right! We’re live blogging it for you, each and every show, in both Korean and English on Twitter. Follow “feetmanseoul” on Twitter to get the scoop.
Seoul Fashion Week starts this Friday and goes until the following Thursday. Here’s an English-language list of all the shows for you, since their official site is funny and doesn’t play well with anything other than Explorer, it seems.

For those of you wondering, here’s the schedule for Seoul Fashion Week 2011 S/S , which is taking place from October 22-28th. The Korean schedule, as well as more information, is available on the main Seoul Fashion Week web site. See you there!
In other news, the staff managing SFW has changed, and we’ve gotten off to a great working relationship. Many thanks to Ms. Pak for taking out the time to meet with me and offer to support us in our efforts to better get the word out on Korean fashion!
And for more fashion news, especially since we ourselves get it so last-minute, remember to add “feetmanseoul” at Twitter. We’re gonna work harder to keep you in the loop and up-to-date. And we’ll even have a site meetup via Twitter at SFW if we can.

Jung Hun Jong’s show was solid, as it is every season, full of bright colors and richness of color. His designs channel the Korean traditional hanbok dress into sophisticated cocktail dresses and gowns. As with every designer, we have the entire F/W 10-11 collection online as a Flickr set, as well as the entire set as a slideshow.

Yang Hee Deuk didn’t do a full, main runway show at Seoul Fashion Week this year, but he did put on quite an impressive, smaller-scale presentation that displayed some pretty cool, retro-inspired looks this year. The thing that stands out about Yang Hee-deuk is the detail and high-quality work that goes into his designs. Watch the fur and leopard prints and fanciness fly all over the runway.
As with all of our shows, the entire photo set of the show is available through Flickr, along with a slick slideshow that allows you to just click on or just send the link, and the show starts right up. In the meantime, below are a few picture highlights of the show.

Our pictures, which are being used in our partnership with TINNnews, were nicely laid out, big and wide, in their print edition. Looks NICE!
